LEARN OUR EMERGENCY TERMINOLOGY

We want to inform you about the terminology we use during emergency situations at school, so you know what to expect and how to respond.
HIGH ALERT: This means something has happened outside the school. As a precaution, no one will be allowed to enter or leave the building. However, all activities inside the school will continue as usual. We will remain on High Alert until it is safe to resume normal operations.
- High Alert status is often issued by local law enforcement as a precaution
- Classroom instruction can continue
- Campuses will be CLOSED to visitors
- SRO’s and School Officials will remain in close contact with local law enforcement to monitor the situation
- We will remain on HIGH ALERT until it is safe to resume normal operations
LOCKDOWN: This indicates an immediate threat on or near campus. In this situation, the school will be secured—no one can enter or leave, and there will be no movement inside the building. If necessary, you will receive specific instructions on what to do and where to pick up your child. The lockdown will continue until local law enforcement and/or school officials give the all-clear.
- Students and Staff should move to the closest secure spot
- Move away from doors & windows
- Remain silent and silence all phones or devices that could make noise or light.
- Schools will remain will remain on lockdown until the “ALL CLEAR” is given.

Your Child’s safety is our top priority. Thank you for your understanding and cooperation.
EMERGENCY PREPAREDNESS & REUNIFICATION INFORMATION
We may face two types of emergencies during the school day.
- Natural Disaster (tornadoes, earthquakes)
- Acts of Violence
In any emergency, if it becomes unsafe for students to remain at school, we may need to relocate them and activate our Reunification Plan. Here are some things you should know.
- Delays are Possible: Reuniting with your child may take some time. It can take hours to secure a safe off-site location, transport students, and initiate the reunification process. We will collaborate closely with law enforcement to accomplish this as quickly and safely as possible.
- Bring your ID: To pick up your child, you must bring a state–issued photo ID. We will only release students to legal guardians listed in Infinite Campus, and staff will verify IDs before releasing any child.
- Do Not Call 911: Law enforcement will already be actively managing the situation. Calling 911 could tie up emergency lines and delay response efforts.
- Help us prepare: Please encourage your child to take emergency drills seriously. Practicing these procedures helps ensure their safety.
Your cooperation and preparedness help us keep all students and staff safe. Thank you for supporting our emergency protocols.
